MLK Jr. Day Assemblies

In January, Bryn Mawr celebrated the legacy of Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. with special assemblies. Kindergarten through 4th grade students attended an assembly filled with music and poetry focusing on Dr. King’s legacy of social justice, equality and fairness. Students in grades 5-12 heard from a panel of four Bryn Mawr African American alumnae who shared their stories and experiences of being students of color at Bryn Mawr throughout the decades, followed by lunch with our panelists.

Mayor Pugh Visits Bryn Mawr

This month, Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh paid a visit to campus! Mayor Pugh spoke with Lower, Middle and Upper School students during special assemblies about the importance of education, courage and women’s leadership as she shared stories of her path to the mayor's office.

Bingo Night

The 12th grade put on their second annual Bingo Night and it was blast! KVB Gym was packed with students and families for a fun night out filled with friends, food, music and prizes.

Little School Pajama and Pancake Day

This year’s “Pajama and Pancake Day” was so much fun! Little school students wore their bedtime best to class for a fun-filled day of music, stories and of course, pancakes!

In The Classroom

Even with winter break and the snow delays, it was a busy month in classrooms all over campus! From learning about implicit and explicit bias in the fifth grade; pitching ideas to an alumnae panel in Shark Tank-style presentations for entrepreneurship; learning how to analyze those same projects in AP Econ from an alumna in the field; or building dollhouses with working lights in Lower School science, students are getting an impressive start to the year. In the Upper School, five freshman students won the English department’s writing contest and earned the iconic rubber ducky trophy, while the robotics teams spent the month preparing for their own  competition, where two teams qualified for states! Special thanks to all the wonderful alumnae who came back to class this month!
