Leadership
Head of School Sue Sadler, alongside the Bryn Mawr Directors Council and the Board of Trustees, work together to guide the school, balancing the day-to-day life with a focus on shaping a bold, inspiring future. Together, this dedicated team ensures that every decision is grounded in our mission to educate and inspire girls.
Head of School
Sue Sadler became Bryn Mawr’s tenth Head of School in 2017. She holds a bachelor of arts in biology from Colby College and a Master of the Arts in Teaching from Ursuline College. Sue led the implementation and completion of The Bryn Mawr Way strategic plan, including the construction of the new Student Center at the heart of campus. Under her leadership in 2022, the school and Board of Trustees co-created and approved a new strategic plan, Bryn Mawr, Beyond, focusing on the future of the school. Initiatives of the new strategic plan are well underway.
A long time proponent of girls’ education, Sue came to Bryn Mawr from Hathaway Brown School in Shaker Heights, Ohio, where she served as teacher, division director, Director of The Center for 21st Century Learning and Associate Head over her three decades at the school. Upon her departure from Hathaway Brown, Sue’s leadership and mentorship was recognized by the creation of a new teaching prize for early career educators, the Sadler Promise in Education Award.
Sue is a current board member of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, the Baltimore Educational Scholarship Trust and past trustee of ERB Testing and formerly served on the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test Advisory Council. She’s a past recipient of the H. William Christ Educator Prize from the International Coalition of Girls’ Schools and an Ohio Governor’s Award for science teaching.
