This holiday season, we are focusing on what brings us joy here at Bryn Mawr, and I know I speak for most of us on the faculty and staff in saying that our greatest joy is seeing our students learn, grow, and thrive. Witnessing the aha moments, hearing the laughter from the playgrounds, seeing the intense focus during deep learning, and celebrating the thrill of accomplishing something after many attempts are the joys that keep us motivated. Whether our students and faculty are here on campus or participating virtually, they are part of a vibrant learning community.
Despite its challenges, this fall has had a few silver linings. We’ve learned how much we mean to each other and we are not taking our community for granted. We are building better bridges across differences for equity and justice. Life is simpler in many ways and families are spending more time together. We are learning how important it is to take care of ourselves. Compassion and empathy are strong as we reach out to take care of others.
Through it all, I have been amazed and impressed with the strength and resilience of our Bryn Mawr family. My gratitude runs deep for all of the ways our employees, parents, students and alumnae have helped us persevere. I send you fond wishes for happy holidays to all, and look forward to seeing you in 2021, hopefully in person!
