In the Classroom

It was a busy month in classrooms all over campus! Whether doing a gallery walk in the fourth grade to see classmates’ posters on a French-speaking African country; painting trees from memory in art class; taking a "trip" to France in second grade; reading to kindergartners; or participating in environmental advocacy projects in Honors Biology, students experienced the true delights and demands of learning at Bryn Mawr.

Little School Food Drive

This month, the Little School collected canned food and donations to be distributed to local families in need through GEDCO, the Govans Ecumenical Development Corporation. GEDCO provides food, advocacy and financial assistance for over 7,000 people in Baltimore City. On the last day of the drive, Little Schoolers were thrilled to help load the delivery truck with all of the donations!

Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day

Students in kindergarten, pre-first, second and fourth grades loved welcoming their grandparents and special friends into their classrooms this month to show off what it's like to be a Bryn Mawr girl! Many thanks to all of the grandparents and special friends who attended this fun event.

Second Grade Parachute Assembly

Each year, students in kindergarten, pre-first, first and second grades participate in parachute activities in physical education class. These activities teach teamwork and cooperation as well as developing physical strength. In November, the second grade was thrilled to show off all that they have learned with a special performance for their parents and classmates!

Girls Night Out

Lower School girls had a great time hanging out with the seniors at the annual Girls Night Out fundraiser! Activities included arts and crafts, games and facepainting.

Middle School Dance Company

In November, the Middle School Dance Company performed a beautiful concert featuring a great variety of dance styles. The 24 seventh and eighth graders performed choreography by director Anne O'Brien, Stephanie Kawesh, Shebrae Dixon, Natalie Stevei and student choreographers.

Middle School Service Mixer

The Middle School service mixer with Gilman provided opportunities for students to give back to their community while also getting to know each other a little bit better. Students worked together at two projects: packing food bags at the Baltimore Hunger Project, and harvesting potatoes at First Fruits Farm.

Princeton Model Congress

Congratulations to the students who represented Bryn Mawr at this year's Princeton Model Congress! We were proud to have two cabinet members (the Secretary of Education and the Secretary of Defense) as well as a Supreme Court justice in our delegation!

Thanksgiving Convocation

This year's Thanksgiving Convocation – one of our favorite community events – was outstanding. We loved welcoming our young alumnae back for the afternoon and seeing the talented performances from students in every division. Enjoy these photos of this fun event!
