Speaking with Lower, Middle, and Upper School students during special assemblies, Mayor Pugh talked about the importance of women's leadership, shared advice about how to become leaders in their own lives, and emphasized the value of persistence, especially after failure. Faculty In Action

Upper School math teacher Frank Ecker came to Bryn Mawr in 2015 after teaching at Glen Burnie High School for seven years. Before becoming a teacher, he held a variety of fascinating jobs including processing semiconductors in the Micro-Photolithography Department at Sandia Labs in New Mexico and working as a location scout for movies. Now, he teaches geometry, calculus and statistics, serves as the assistant golf coach and is a mentor for one of Bryn Mawr’s three FTC Robotics teams. Read more...

Feel The fear, do it Anyway

On Friday, Jan.12, the Bryn Mawr community celebrated the legacy of Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. with special gatherings. Little School children sang about friendship, kindness and, of course, the Happy Birthday song in honor of Dr. King’s birthday. Kindergarten through 4th grade students attended an assembly filled with music and poetry focusing on Dr. King’s legacy of social justice, equality and fairness, followed by classroom discussions. On Jan. 5, we were delighted to welcome several alumnae back to campus for our annual Alumnae Convocation. With professional roles ranging from a Broadway “child wrangler” to flower farm owner, Helen Bowie Campbell ’79, Alissa Zulvergold ’01, Erin Birely ’06 and Lucy Davidson ’11 spoke to Upper School students about their career trajectory and how they created their unique “circuitous or straight” professional pathways.
