On Jan. 5, we were delighted to welcome several alumnae back to campus for our annual Alumnae Convocation. With professional roles ranging from a Broadway “child wrangler” to flower farm owner, Helen Bowie Campbell ’79, Alissa Zulvergold ’01, Erin Birely ’06 and Lucy Davidson ’11 spoke to Upper School students about their career trajectory and how they created their unique “circuitous or straight” professional pathways.

All of their stories were different, but they shared the common theme that being able to turn your passion into a career will help you succeed. “If you’re passionate about what you do, it doesn't feel like work. You have to have that passion, but don’t expect to have it necessarily right out of school,” Campbell said.

Afterward, the conversations continued during a lunch with students and recent graduates. Special thanks to our panelists and young alumnae for joining us on a snowy day for an engaging discussion.
It's ok if you don't know what you want to do right away. There's plenty of time to experiment and decide. You must be aware that failure is a possibility. But it's absolutely worth it. If you are able to turn your passion into your job you are very lucky - Alissa Zulvergold ’01
