Starting in 2018, Girls Who Code will offer a new summer program at Bryn Mawr for girls ages 13-18. The program, Campus, offers Girls Who Code’s first-ever specialized coding courses to help middle and high school girls of all abilities build their future in tech, get an edge for college, and connect with other girls with similar interests. Bryn Mawr is pleased to be one of only 15 schools across the country selected to host the program, and the only school in Baltimore to host Campus in the summer of 2018.

Campus condenses Girls Who Code’s award-winning curriculum into an accelerated 10-day summer course. The two courses offered at Bryn Mawr in June and July 2018 will be Website Design & Development and iPhone App Development. Both programs are open to girls ages 13-18.

“Computer science is a strength of Bryn Mawr's STEM curriculum and we share Girls Who Code's commitment to closing the gender gap in technology fields," said Director of Technology Justin Curtis, who teaches computer science at Bryn Mawr. "The Girls Who Code summer courses will allow young women in the Baltimore area to further their studies in computer science and use computer science principles to develop solutions to real-world issues. We are thrilled to be their partner in this work. "

As part of its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, Girls Who Code has set aside 20 percent of its seats for need-based scholarships. Deloitte will fund these scholarships in all Campus programs as the 2018 National Scholarship Sponsor. Scholarships will be provided to students who meet the eligibility requirements on a first-come, first-served basis.

“In the last five years, we’ve quadrupled the pipeline of women in tech,” said Reshma Saujani, Founder and CEO of Girls Who Code. “Yet every year, we still turn away thousands of girls from our Summer Immersion Program because we’re over-subscribed. We want to teach every girl to code, so we’re introducing a new summer program called Campus to help us scale our impact. With Campus, we’ll be able to expand Girls Who Code to thousands more girls and inspire them to tackle our country’s toughest problems.”
