Dr. Sam Matz, Team Physician

Dr. Sam Matz became a member of the Athletic Department as the school’s team doctor in 2009.  His expertise is in the field of arthroscopic surgery and surgery to the knee and shoulder.
Dr. Matz currently serves as the Sports Medicine Director of the Women's Center at Carroll Hospital Center, and is the chief of the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery and the former Chief of the Medical Staff at Carroll Hospital Center. In addition, Dr. Matz is an instructor of orthopaedic surgery at the University Of Maryland School of Medicine and the medical director of LifeBridge Sports Medicine at Northwest Hospital Center. He has served as the head team physician at McDaniel College and Mount St. Mary's College since 1987.

Dr. Matz lives in Reisterstown, with his wife, Patty. All three of his daughters are Bryn Mawr alumnae: Sarah ’09, Amanda ’11 and Erica ’12.
