Global Education Exchange Programs and Trips

Global education is an important part of a Bryn Mawr student's education. It helps fulfill our mission of preparing students to be responsible and confident participants in the world, to cultivate respect for diversity and to engender a sense of responsibility to the broader community.

Why Global Education?

Global Education instills a deeper understanding of and appreciation for cultures and peoples around the world. It provides the chance for our students to continue to experience a diversity of opinions, experiences and backgrounds, which is an important part of our commitment to building diversity. It helps our students understand the complexities and interconnectedness of the global society in which we live by allowing them to assess their own culture (which includes religion, language, values, music, literature, economy, etc.) with that of another country. Most of all, global education provides an opportunity for students to get to know themselves and understand their place in this world in a way that can only be achieved by stepping outside of their comfort zones.

Upper School

2024-25 Reciprocal Exchanges (Upper School)

  • Argentina: Colegio San Carlos (11th grade)

    (Available to students in grade 11- Two students are selected- Students must be taking at least Spanish III to apply)
    Travel Dates:
    July 2025 (3 weeks of classes and one week of holiday travel with family)
    Hosting Dates:
    April 2025 (3 weeks of classes and one week of holiday travel with family)
    Cost:
    Program fee and airfare are covered by Bryn Mawr. Students will need personal spending money. Families in both countries cover the cost of room and board, and in-country travel for exchange students.

  • Czech Republic Exchange PORG School in Prague, Czech Republic (10-11th grade)

    (Available to students in grades 10 or 11- Two students are selected)

    June - July 2025 (4 weeks at school with weekend travel opportunities)
    Hosting Dates:
    March - April 2025 (4 weeks at school with weekend travel opportunities)
    Cost:
    Program fee and airfare are covered by Bryn Mawr. Students will need personal spending money. Families in both countries cover the cost of room and board, and in-country travel for exchange students.

  • England Exchange Christ's Hospital in West Sussex, UK (11th grade)

    Christ’s Hospital School, West Sussex, UK
    (Available to students in grade 11 - One student is selected from BMS and one from Gilman)
    Travel Dates:
    June- July 2025 (4-weeks stay at the boarding school with home visits to family)
    Hosting Dates:
    March- April 2025 (4 weeks at school living with family)
    Cost:
    Program fee and airfare are covered by Bryn Mawr. Students will need personal spending money. Families in both countries cover the cost of room and board, and in-country travel for exchange students.

    This opportunity will allow you to host a student from England for four weeks this spring, followed by the chance to visit your exchange student’s family and school for four weeks in the summer before your senior year.

  • France Exchange: Collège St. Joseph de Grenelle  (9th grade)

    (This exchange is open to one 9th grader. Students must be taking or have completed at least French III.)
    Travel Dates:
    10 days in June 2025
    Hosting Dates:
    10 days in the fall 2024
    Cost:
    Program fee and airfare are covered by Bryn Mawr. Students will need personal spending money. Families in both countries cover the cost of room and board, and in-country travel for exchange students.

  • Guatemala Exchange: Antigua International School, Antigua, Guatemala ( 9-10th grade)

    March 2025 (3 weeks including spring break)

    November 2024 (3 weeks including Thanksgiving)
    Cost:
    Program fee and airfare are covered by Bryn Mawr. Students will need personal spending money. Families in both countries cover the cost of room and board, and in-country travel for exchange students.

    July/August 2025 (6-weeks)
    Hosting Dates:
    Oct-Nov 2024 (6-weeks)
    Cost:
    Program fee and airfare are covered by Bryn Mawr. Students will need personal spending money. Families in both countries cover the cost of room and board, and in-country travel for exchange students. An additional of about $1200 may be added if students chose a trip to Kruger National Park as a class trip.

    Cost:
    Program fee and airfare are covered by Bryn Mawr. Students will need personal spending money. Families in both countries cover the cost of housing, feeding, and in-country travel for exchange students.

  • Turkey Exchange Robert College Istanbul, Turkey  - TENTATIVE
