Meet the 2023-2024 Clayborne Fellows

The Bryn Mawr School is pleased to announce the 2023-2024 fellows for the Dorothy Clayborne Fellowship for Aspiring Teachers of Color.   

 

Now in its third year, the Clayborne Fellowship allows aspiring teachers of color to serve as active faculty members while teaching a reduced course load, or co-teaching with a mentor.  They are involved in the arts, athletics, clubs and diversity, equity and inclusion programming in the school community. The fellowship also offers the opportunity to network with teachers at other independent schools.  

Meet the 2023-2024 Clayborne Teaching Fellows:

Ashley Johnson is in her second year as a Dorothy Clayborne Fellow in our 6th and 8th grade English classrooms. Ashley studied English at Towson University, serving as a research assistant under Dr. Sherita Roundtree studying noise, pedagogy, and composition. She is a graduate student at Johns Hopkins University, working towards her Masters in Liberal Arts. Ashley’s research and professional interests lie at the intersections of interdisciplinary creative practice, Black Feminism, embodiment, and community liberation and transformation. 

Quichey Johnson ’15 joins the Dorothy Clayborne Fellowship as a Physical Education teacher in Lower, Middle and Upper Schools.  Quichey graduated from Bryn Mawr School in 2015 and returned to Bryn Mawr in 2019 serving as an Athletic Director Intern while pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Goucher College.  In addition to teaching PE, Quichey will be coaching our field hockey, basketball and softball teams.
