Student Life at Bryn Mawr

Our students say that Bryn Mawr is their home away from home. With countless ways to get involved, explore interests and make a difference, Bryn Mawr students build lifelong friendships and develop leadership skills in a vibrant, supportive environment.

Bryn Mawr School

House System

A Tradition of Belonging

Bryn Mawr’s House System fosters camaraderie, school spirit, and a sense of belonging across all grades.

Every student belongs to one of five houses named after five icons of Bryn Mawr: Daisies, Suns, Stars, Moons, and Owls. Through spirited competitions and shared traditions, the Houses connect students in a meaningful way, creating bonds that span across divisions and ages.

One of the best parts of the House System is how it allows Bryn Mawr’s younger students to get to know the older girls and have someone to look up to, while our Middle and Upper Schoolers are getting a chance to be real leaders and role models.

Clubs and Organizations

Something for Everyone

Our students lead and participate in six school-wide organizations and over 50 clubs and activities, from robotics to pickleball, filmmaking to cultural affinity groups. Bryn Mawr’s student-led clubs and organizations reflect the diverse passions and interests of our community. Students plan Coffee House nights, Spirit Week festivities and on-campus festivals and events that bond our students and community together. Girls are encouraged to lead, create, and innovate as they pursue activities that inspire them.

Publications

Sharing Student Voices

Student publications like The Quill, Mélange and The Bryn Mawrtyr provide platforms for creative expression, journalistic inquiry and intellectual exploration. These outlets amplify student voices, allowing them to share their perspectives with the Bryn Mawr community and beyond. Students are encouraged to apply to join school publications as writers, editors, and photographers.

140+ Years of Traditions

From the ringing of the school bell on the last day of senior classes to accepting class banners at Gym Drill, Bryn Mawr’s time-honored traditions connect generations of students. These beloved rituals celebrate our shared history while inspiring pride and joy in our community.

Community Service

Making a Difference

At Bryn Mawr, we believe that learning takes place both inside and outside the classroom. Through organized service opportunities and partnerships with local organizations, students embody the school mission to become responsible and confident participants in the world.

Community service learning takes place through involvement in and service to the community; it is integrated into all levels of the school and is a requirement for graduation.
