Mamma Mia Cast Wins Four Cappies Awards

Bryn Mawr's production of Mamma Mia! took home high honors at the annual Cappies Awards, a celebration of student theater in the Baltimore area.
The gala was held at the Hippodrome Theater on Sunday, May 19, 2019. Of the 21 participating schools across the region, the Mamma Mia! cast received 11 nominations for their on stage and behind the scenes work. It was Bryn Mawr's first year of participating in the awards program and students came home with four trophies:
  • Best Special Effects and Technology: Hannah Brecher, Naomi Fotenos and C.C. Colangelo
  • Best Female Comic Actress in a Musical: Keri McClelland
  • Best Male Dancer: Alex DeVito
  • Best Musical Ensemble: Mamma Mia! Male Ensemble
“We’re told that in the history of the Cappies, no new school entering the program has received a nomination for Best Musical," said Dr. Alyson Shirk, Director of Arts. "We are honored to have been recognized with so many nominations in such a time-honored student-run theater critique program. It was a great night of fun: dressing up and cheering for our cast mates!”
