Dr. Devorah Heitner to Speak at Middle School Technology Night

Bryn Mawr is excited to welcome Dr. Devorah Heitner as the keynote speaker at this year's Middle School Technology Night.
A noted expert on young people’s relationship with digital media and technology, Dr. Heitner is the author of Screenwise: Helping Kids Thrive (and Survive) in Their Digital World and founder of Raising Digital Natives, a resource for schools and organizations wishing to cultivate a culture of responsible digital citizenship. Dr. Heitner has spoken at many national and international conferences and schools across the country. Her work has appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Real Simple and TIME magazine.

Dr. Heitner holds a Ph.D. in Media/Technology and Society from Northwestern University and has taught at DePaul and Northwestern. She is also raising her own digital native, and aims to offer all children "a vision for nurturing sound judgement and independence as they grow."

Middle School Technology Night will take place on Tuesday, September 25 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. in Centennial Hall. This annual event is a required evening for 6th grade parents, but 7th and 8th grade parents are also welcome to attend.

Dr. Heitner will speak to all Middle School students from the trischool community during a student assembly at Roland Park Country School on Wednesday, September 26.
