We are pleased to share an update with you regarding our Lower and Upper School divisional leadership for the 2017-18 academic year.

It is with great pleasure that we announce the appointment of Laurie Vennes to the position of Lower School Director. Laurie will assume this role following Pat Nothstein’s retirement in July. Laurie is currently the Director of Winchester Thurston School’s North Hills campus, a private co-educational school for pre-kindergarten through fifth grade in Pittsburgh, PA. In a field of talented candidates from across the country, Laurie stood out with her enthusiasm for a warm and supportive school community, passion for elementary education, as well as her strong belief in Bryn Mawr’s mission, traditions, and culture. We would like to thank the other members of our Lower School Director Search Committee — Anne Broadus ’88, P’21; Meara Denton, P’25, ’21, ’18; Meghann McMahon, P’29; Lexie Greene ’95, P’25; Susan Mills; and Talia Titus, P’24 — for their dedication to this process and to our Lower School.

In the Upper School, Dean of Students Jeanette Budzik has been appointed Interim Upper School Director for the 2017-18 academic year. She will fill the one-year position when Jennifer Galambos departs to become Head of School at Kent Place in Summit, New Jersey.

Having served as a dean of students, chief advisor, teacher, and coach at Bryn Mawr for the last 33 years, Jeanette brings a deep understanding of Upper School students and strong experience with the Upper School’s curriculum and community. She is passionate about Bryn Mawr’s mission and is completely dedicated to the success and well being of our girls and our school. She is committed to Bryn Mawr’s history and traditions and also embraces a vision for change. Click here to read more about Jeanette.

We want to recognize Pat and Jennifer’s outstanding leadership of their divisions and note how our new strategic plan, The Bryn Mawr Way: A Contemporary Vision for What Girls Need to Thrive, so strongly positioned the school and guided our search processes.

We thank you for embracing these changes and opportunities for Bryn Mawr with optimism. Please join us in congratulating Laurie and Jeanette on their new roles.
