Diwali 2022

Bryn Mawr Upper School students in South Asian Student Union (SASU) hosted a Diwali celebration for the community on the Carey Quad. Members sold traditional foods and drinks, offered henna, played music and ended the celebration by lighting diyas. Lower School students joined Middle and Upper School students from both Bryn Mawr and Gilman for the festivities.

Diwali is the festival of lights celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains around the world. While different cultures and religions recognize Diwali differently, it generally celebrates the triumph of light over dark, or good over evil.

Thanks to SASU student leaders Aara Sampath ’24, Shreya Srivastava ’24 and Nandini Negi ’24 who organized this year’s celebration along with Gilman student leaders.
