Amanda Dame

Amanda Dame - Flute

Amanda Dame, a Baltimore flutist, and educator, serves on multiple faculties and co-founded the Virtual Woodwind Academy. Passionate about community outreach, she's performed at prominent venues, collaborates in Duo Sila, and has won numerous competitions. Trained at Oberlin and Peabody, she's mastered under a renowned flutist.
Amanda Dame is a flutist and educator in Baltimore, MD and has served on the flute faculty of the International School of Music, Camp Encore/Coda, and the Oberlin Flute Academy. With a passion for bringing music to communities throughout Maryland, Amanda is also a Teaching Artist for Arts for Learning Maryland in their summer institute, and has served in the past as the Teaching Artist for the Tapestry Music Program through the Washington Conservatory of Music. She is also the co-founder of Virtual Woodwind Academy, an online summer music academy for adult amateur musicians.

With a love for performing, Amanda has presented solo recitals at notable venues including Troy Savings Bank Music Hall in Troy, NY, the Anderson House and the Arts Club of Washington in DC, and The Mainstay in Rock Hall, MD. She is also the flutist in Duo Sila, collaborating with percussionist and Peabody-faculty member Christina Manceor. The duo released their first album, Traditions Reimagined, in February 2021. Amanda has been a laureate in many competitions, receiving first place awards in the National Society of Arts and Letters Woodwind Competition in Washington, DC, the Best Mozart Performance category of the global Great Composer Competition Series, 2014 Central Ohio Flute Association Young Artist Competition, and the 2013 Rochester Flute Association Emerging Artist Competition.

Receiving a dual Bachelor’s degree at Oberlin College in flute and biology, as well as a Master of Music from the Peabody Institute, Amanda’s main teachers include Marina Piccinini, Alexa Still, and Kristin Bacchiocchi-Stewart.
