Rebekah Robinson '17, University of Toronto
"I am so proud of our Senior Convocation tradition. Our senior speeches give us a platform to talk about things that matter to us and share them with the community. There have been so many amazing speeches this year, and I always learn something new about my peers. I hope this tradition never changes because public speaking is an important skill to have and it epitomizes our bold voices as Bryn Mawr students."
Which class at Bryn Mawr has been the most influential?
The senior elective I took this fall called America in the World. It was a great class to take with the election in the fall and helped me look critically at trade agreements and policies made by the U.S. After the challenging work and debates, I felt like a more informed citizen. It also helped me develop a passion for international relations, which I hope to pursue in college.
What made you choose Toronto?
I wanted to be in a big city for a change of pace from what I am used to. Toronto has the programs I was looking for, a beautiful campus and a super friendly atmosphere. There is so much to see and do, and I cannot wait to explore the city. I also really enjoy snow.
What are you looking forward to the most about college?
I am most excited to make new friends. I have been at Bryn Mawr for 11 years, so I have not had a real first day in a long time. I’m excited to get to know my new classmates and a new city.
Describe your senior year in three words.
Fast, strenuous, gratifying.
If you could create one mandatory course for future seniors, what would it be?
Finances 101: How to apply for student loans, how to create a budget for college, how to understand your checking account, and so much more!
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Finished with university and perhaps finishing up law school; living my life with a dog or two while still doing a lot of traveling and exploring.
