  • Middle School English/History Teacher

    The Bryn Mawr School seeks a full time, growth-minded Middle School English and History teacher for the fall, 2017. Responsibilities include teaching 6th grade, advising a small group of students, and serving as a member of a grade-level faculty team. As part of the full time contract, responsibilities will likely include teaching one section of modern history. Candidates should have interest in teaching highly motivated girls in a school that values not only intellectual pursuits but also building strong relationships and community. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator who is comfortable using a variety of pedagogical strategies and enjoys working creatively and collaboratively to develop and plan curricula. Successful candidates must have a proven record of engaging students in class discussions, fostering critical reading and writing skills, and inspiring a love of learning. A desire to take an active role in teaching in a one-to one laptop classroom is essential. Candidates with background and/or interest in teaching history are highly desirable.

  • Middle School Dance Teacher - Gym Drill

    The Bryn Mawr School seeks a part time, growth-minded dance teacher to begin August , 2017. Responsibilities include teaching dance classes for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders and being a co-organizer of the school’s long standing dance tradition (Gym Drill) in early May. This teacher will select, interpret, and teach cultural dances appropriate for middle school girls that will be performed at Gym Drill. In addition, he or she will offer an 8th grade dance elective of the teacher’s choice, choreograph our bi-annual Middle School musical, and lead a trimester of middle school Dance Company for interested girls that culminates in a public performance. Candidates should embrace collaborative and creative work that requires a high level of communication and organization with both our Arts and our Physical Education Departments. Candidates should have knowledge of a range of dance techniques, some knowledge of the history of dance, and the ability to choreograph. Candidates should have interest in teaching highly motivated girls at a school that values not only intellectual pursuits but also building strong relationships and community. This teacher will likely co-advise a group of middle school girls. Possibilities for growth in this job include teaching in our Dance School (for lower and middle school girls) and working with our Upper School Dance Company.

    The Bryn Mawr School is seeking a Head JV Field Hockey Coach. Bryn Mawr competes in the IAAM “A” Conference. Qualified candidates should have at least one year’s coaching experience or collegiate playing experience; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Candidates should possess excellent organization and communication skills. The head JV coach is responsible for planning and attending all practices and matches, communicating with parents and students, motivating athletes, organizing and use of equipment, driving mini buses to away matches, and attending post season banquet. Practices are from 3:30-5:30 PM Mondays through Fridays. There is an average of 2 games per week at 5:15/5:30 PM. The field hockey season begins on August 15th and concludes at the end of October. This position reports regularly to the Director of Athletics. This is a paid, part-time position and a background check is required.
