"I’m happy to come to work every day. I love seeing my students and being surrounded by this culture of learning."

What do you know now that you wish you’d known when you started teaching?

At the beginning I worried about whether I would love teaching. If I could go back, I would say, “This is THE right move for you.” I’m happy to come to work every day. I love seeing my students and being surrounded by this culture of learning.

What do you need for a day at Bryn Mawr?

My computer, my calm.com app (we like to start each class with a two-minute meditation), markers, water. And definitely chocolate!

What inspires you?

In Disney theme parks there are people called Imagineers, whose job is to create an optimal experience for attendees. I’m inspired by the work they do because it ties in so closely with design thinking and building to solve problems. A lot of the work I do with the Innovation Lab is closely aligned with that sort of thinking.

What’s on your summer reading list?

I love to read, especially on the beach! Here are a few I'm planning to read: “Originals: How Non-Conformists Move the World” by Adam Grant; “The Art of Innovation” by Tom Kelley; “After You” by JoJo Moyes; “The Storied Life of AJ Fikry” by Gabrielle Zevin and “Unflattening,” a graphic novel by Nick Sousanis.
