Baltimore Partnerships

At Bryn Mawr, we believe in the power of community and the importance of fostering meaningful connections beyond our campus.

Through our partnerships with Bridges at Bryn Mawr and Middle Grades Partnership, we provide transformative opportunities for students to engage, lead and make connections with the people of Baltimore.

Bridges at Bryn Mawr

Bridges at Bryn Mawr is an inspiring and impactful organization that works year-round with Baltimore City youth from elementary school until the start of their careers and provides-life-changing volunteer opportunities for independent school students.

Founded in 1993 at The St. Paul’s Schools, Bridges expanded to Gilman School in 2014, Bryn Mawr in 2022, and to McDonogh School in 2024. It is now a 13-year program that works year-round with 440+ Baltimore City youth ages 9-23 and engages 350+ independent school student volunteers. Over the last 18 years, Bridges has evolved and expanded its programs to help students find consistent academic success from elementary school through high school, graduate from high school and college, and find fulfilling career paths that lead to financial security.

Bryn Mawr proudly hosts a five-week Summer Institute and a year-round after-school program for fourth and fifth graders from six area elementary schools. These initiatives not only provide enriching educational experiences but also create opportunities for Bryn Mawr students to volunteer, build friendships, and develop a deeper understanding of equity and inclusion in Baltimore.

Trust me when I say that if you give any kid an educational home where they are valued, supported and encouraged at all levels, they will thrive beyond your wildest hopes. To me, that is what Bridges is about.Julia Dimaio Site Director

Middle Grades Partnership

Girls on stage MGP

Through Middle Grades Partnership (MGP), Bryn Mawr collaborates with Cross Country Elementary/Middle School to bring together public and private school students for a five-week summer program focused on preventing summer learning loss, fostering leadership, and encouraging civic engagement. Beyond the summer, students continue their journey through collaborative projects that promote cross-cultural understanding and community impact.

Approximately 50 Bryn Mawr and Cross Country students come together each summer to focus on female empowerment on social, cultural, and academic levels. Participants have the opportunity to explore their own self-expression and identity through art, language, movement, music, performance, technology and design. Together they create a final project that showcases both what they've learned about others and about themselves.

MGP gives kids the opportunity to network and build relationships with peers they might not meet outside of the program. Over each session, we get to see new friendships form as students come together.Moneshia Davis Bryn Mawr Site Director
