- Position Title: Security Guard
- Position Type: Full-time (3:00 pm – 11:00 pm)
- Pay Range: $18.00 - $20.00/hour
- Start date: Mid-November
Position Summary
This position protects faculty, staff, visitors and the school property from possible criminal activity. The security guard assists with the overall school security responsibilities, obligations, and duties, such as maintenance responsibilities, performance responsibilities, and direction responsibilities. Assists the security supervisor and director of security with school events and keeping the safety needs of the school met.
Responsibilities
- Enforcement of school rules and regulations including those related to parking.
- Arrive on campus at your assigned work hours unless directed otherwise.
- Report to the security supervisor daily for the start of the shift check-in and update on campus activity.
- Work and communicate with the operations department for daily and evening events.
- Work school day afternoon carpool shift from 3:30 pm - 4:00 pm.
- On occasion, transport students to neighboring campuses due to severe inclement weather, student injuries or in an emergency situation.
- Transport Faculty and Staff in emergency situations.
- Monitor campus movement of Students, Faculty, Staff, Contractors, Visitors, etc.
- Interact with the community (Neighbor relations).
- Must be available to occasionally work outside of scheduled shifts to address operational needs of the school.
- Availability to work mandatory school events set forth by your security supervisor outside of regular work hours.
- Report any vacation, sick or absence from work to your security supervisor.
- Be familiar with school safety protocols including fire drills, campus hazards, etc. and respond accordingly in a timely fashion.
- Carry core equipment (radio and school phone) at all times and respond in a timely fashion, while on duty.
- Review and know all emergency procedures.
- Report any and all breaches of security to your security supervisor.
- Make hourly rounds during shift unless tending to an emergency or assigned a different duty by supervisor.
- All campus safety and security decisions made should be discussed with your security supervisor before implemented.
- Always respect and support the security team and the community as a whole; remain fair, firm, and impartial at all times.
- Become ALICE trained as an ALICE certified instructor.
- Become CPR certified and participate in annual CPR training.
Experience
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Authoritative verbal communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
- Ability to learn and be familiar with the layout of the campus and all buildings.
- Be able to problem solve and communicate effectively with community members and visitors.
- Ability to control the property and access areas quickly.
- Must be able to lift 50+ pounds at a time.
- PROPER WORK ATTIRE MUST BE WORN DURING CORE WORK HOURS. Bryn Mawr issued tops and pants that have belt loops that allow you to wear security equipment such as radio, phone, etc.
Qualifications/Skills/Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous security experience is required.
- Knowledge of Google Suite.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Maryland Guard Card, preferred.

- Compensation for the role will depend on several factors, including a candidate's years of experience, education, skills, and job-related responsibilities.
