Position Summary

The Bryn Mawr School seeks a full time, growth-minded Lower Elementary teacher to begin August, 2026.

Requirements of the position:

  • Plan and implement high-quality instruction in Reading, Writing, Math, and Social Studies, tailored to diverse learning styles and abilities. 
  • Deliver phonics instruction using principles of the science of reading.
  • Teach math using a Singapore math approach. 
  • Exhibit strong classroom management skills, creating a nurturing and productive learning environment.
  • Foster a love of learning, independence, and personal responsibility while meeting the developmental and academic needs of students.
  • Utilize both formal and informal assessments to monitor progress, adjust instruction, and identify areas for growth.
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. Communicate regularly with parents about academic progress, goals, and character development.
  • Reflect on teaching practice, pursue professional growth opportunities, and remain open to feedback.
  • Incorporate technology in intentional ways, while maintaining a classroom environment rooted in hands-on learning and direct instruction for core academic subjects.
  • Collaborate with support staff and grade-level teams to create optimal learning environments for all students
     

Additional responsibilities:

  • Perform assigned teacher duties such as recess, carpool and lunch duties.
  • Attend faculty meetings and scheduled professional days.
  • Pursue professional development opportunities such as lectures, workshops, conventions, and graduate level courses.
     

Qualifications/Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education
  • 3-5 years teaching experience, preferred 
  • Desire and ability to work with Lower School students with diverse backgrounds and levels of ability toward accomplishing their educational goals.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Facility with using a variety of pedagogical strategies. 
  • Experience teaching phonics of reading using a research-based science of reading approach; experience with UFLI preferred
  • Experience teaching math to elementary students using the Singapore model
  • Ability to organize tasks and manage time to meet many and varied deadlines; manage small and large groups of students in a classroom environment; and communicate effectively with students, parents, school administrators and other staff, including the ability to discuss topics which may be sensitive.
  • Willingness to support the life of the school community beyond classroom teaching/advising. 
  • Commitment to using conversation norms and constructive engagement at all times with students, caregivers, colleagues; speak positively about school and community members in all contexts.
     

Salary and Benefits

  • Bryn Mawr School follows a Faculty Salary Scale. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's years of experience, education, skills, and job-related responsibilities. Teaching candidates will be offered a salary between $52,000 and $70,000. Candidates with additional experience or qualifications may be offered a salary outside the range shown.
