Position Summary

The Bryn Mawr School is seeking a dedicated and energetic Kindergarten Assistant for a one-year appointment to support our vibrant Lower School community. This role is designed for an individual who is passionate about early childhood education and eager to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The Kindergarten Assistant will partner with a veteran lead teacher to facilitate the daily operations of a dynamic classroom. This role is designed for a dedicated individual who will help cultivate a nurturing, engaging, and organized environment where students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally..

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the lead and specialist teachers to deliver curriculum and activities; facilitate small group instruction and provide individualized reinforcement of core learning concepts.
  • Foster a nurturing and orderly classroom climate; provide active supervision during transitions, recess periods, and lunch.
  • Organize and prepare essential classroom materials and manage the logistical details necessary to ensure the daily program runs efficiently.
  • Support students with empathy as they build foundational social-emotional skills and navigate their early school experiences.
  • Engage in consistent, open communication with the lead teacher and broader Lower School team to maintain a cohesive educational environment.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or significant progress toward a degree in early childhood education or a related field is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting young children, specifically within the 5–6 age range, in a school environment or structured group setting is preferred
  • Maintain high energy, patience, and a "can-do" attitude while managing the logistical details and daily operations of the classroom.
  • Maintain consistent, open communication and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills when engaging with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Opportunities to participate in extracurricular programs (e.g., athletics, arts, after-school programming) are available.

Salary & Benefits

Bryn Mawr School follows a Faculty Salary Scale. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's years of experience, education, skills, and job-related responsibilities. Teaching candidates will be offered a salary between $50,000 and $55,000. Candidates with additional experience or qualifications may be offered a salary outside the range shown.
