Students, parents, and coaches are expected to demonstrate respect for opponents, officials, the rules of competition, and The Bryn Mawr School.
At Bryn Mawr, we encourage students to speak on their own behalf, addressing issues with the appropriate individual, whether it is with a teacher, advisor, coach, or teammate. When dealing with an athletic issue, we expect the student-athlete to talk with the coach directly, especially in the case of playing time. If the issue cannot be resolved, or if it pertains to the health and well-being of a student, a parent should feel free to contact the coach to discuss the concern or to make an appointment. If necessary, an appointment can be made with the athletic director after speaking to the coach.
A Bryn Mawr student-athlete represents her team, the Athletic Department and The Bryn Mawr School. A student-athlete's behavior on and off campus, in public and in private, and on weekdays and weekends, should not reflect negatively on herself and her school.
If at any time there is evidence that a Bryn Mawr student-athlete is using and/or dispensing illegal drugs, including alcohol and tobacco or abusing prescription drugs, she will face appropriate consequences as determined by the athletic director and the coach. The violation will be reported to the appropriate division director, dean of students, and headmistress.Playing time is not guaranteed.
It is our goal for all players to have playing time, however, in individual games of close competition some girls may not play.
All girls can expect playing time.
Exceptions to this policy, which may effect playing time include, but are not limited to: injury, illness, missed practices, or poor attitude.
Girls on every team will have as much equal playing time as the substitution rules and speed of play allow assuming she attends all practices and maintains a positive attitude. We do make necessary exceptions with the positions of goalie, pitcher, and catcher, as these positions require very specific training demands, experience, and skills.
