Students, parents, and coaches are expected to demonstrate respect for opponents, officials, the rules of competition, and The Bryn Mawr School.
Participing on some of our teams requires transportation off-campus for practice and competitions. While Bryn Mawr is committed to provide transportation for all athletes to the off-campus locations during school hours, we understand that in some cases it is much easier logistically if a student can drive herself.
In order for a student to drive herself or another teammate, the "Driving Permission Form" must be completed for the driver and/or the passenger, and the coach must be in agreement.
AT NO TIME WILL A STUDENT BE LEFT AT AN AWAY SITE TO WAIT FOR A RIDE. COACHES WILL BRING STUDENTS BACK ON THE BUS IF THEIR RIDE IS NOT PRESENT AT GAME'S END!
At Bryn Mawr, we encourage students to speak on their own behalf, addressing issues with the appropriate individual, whether it is with a teacher, advisor, coach, or teammate. When dealing with an athletic issue, we expect the student-athlete to talk with the coach directly, especially in the case of playing time. If the issue cannot be resolved, or if it pertains to the health and well-being of a student, a parent should feel free to contact the coach to discuss the concern or to make an appointment. Coaches should not have to address parent concerns directly following a practice or a game. If necessary, an appointment can be made with the athletic director after speaking to the coach.
A Bryn Mawr student-athlete represents her team, the Athletic Department, and The Bryn Mawr School. A student-athlete's behavior on and off campus, in public and in private, and on weekdays and weekends, should not reflect negatively on herself or her school.
If at any time there is evidence that a Bryn Mawr student-athlete is using and/or dispensing illegal drugs, including alcohol and tobacco, or abusing prescription drugs, she will face appropriate consequences as determined by the athletic director and the coach. The violation will be reported to the appropriate division director, dean of students, and headmistress.
In order to participate on a team, a student must be present for all of the try-out period. Exceptions are only made when the coach is notified well in advance and there is room on the roster for additional team members.
