The Music School at Bryn Mawr enables students in grades Kindergarten through twelve to continue their education in music outside of the classroom. Currently the program employs seventeen teachers who instruct approximately one hundred eighty students in the areas of cello, flute, guitar, harp, piano, violin, viola, and voice. Students take lessons one day per week lasting one half hour, forty-five minutes, or one hour. Each teacher presents a recital showcasing the work students in his or her studio have accomplished over the course of the school year.
Registration forms for the 2010-2011 school year will be sent out to families in May 2010. On the registration form you will find areas in which you may request a teacher and state your preference for a lesson day and time. We will use this information to work towards connecting you with a teacher and/or lesson time. Please know that 2:45 and 3:30 lesson times are highly requested and can be difficult to accommodate.
Students in Kindergarten, Pre-First, and First Grade may only have lessons after school beginning at 2:45. Voice lessons begin for students in Sixth Grade.
The registration deadline for the 2010-2011 school year is June 15, 2010. Registrations received after that date will be placed on a waiting list until the scheduling process is completed in early September.

Any lessons cancelled by the teacher will be made up. The teacher is not obligated to make up lessons missed by students (illness, vacation, forgot). Lessons missed because of school closings or special events will be negotiated between teacher and student, but not to exceed 3 make-up lessons through out the year.
Once you have registered your child for private music lessons, you will have three lessons in which to decide whether or not to have her continue for the entire school year. If you decide after the third lesson not to continue, you will be given a refund minus the administrative fee of $75 and the cost of the three lessons. After the third lesson, you are financially responsible for the cost of lessons for the entire school year and will be billed accordingly by the Business Office.
