Dear Families,
The Lower School is an exciting and rewarding place for young girls to begin their formal education. Girls are curious and ready to experience learning the mechanics of reading, writing, and mathematics. Each day when the girls arrive, our talented Lower School faculty meet each girl's individual needs by teaching the core curriculum and life skills.
When visiting the Lower School, one can feel the joy Bryn Mawr girls have while learning and making friends in this wonderful community. From kindergarten through fifth grade, Bryn Mawr girls are encouraged and taught to be creative and critical thinkers and to give full expression to their thoughts through their study of literature, art, science, music, mathematics, writing, languages, history, and world culture. Bryn Mawr girls take charge of their learning as they explore a robust curriculum offering a balance of traditional subjects and innovative ideas. Each day offers myriad ways for girls to nourish their minds, bodies, and spirits as well as to rest, reflect, contemplate, play, and just be themselves.
At the heart of our Lower School program are caring and talented teachers who are committed to and knowledgeable about girls, education. They infuse a rich curriculum with life, and they explore every possible way to teach in order for students to learn. As educators, we know that for successful learning to take place students must know that they are safe, cared for, and appreciated as individuals. Bryn Mawr celebrates girls and all that they are in a welcoming community that respects and understands differences, values the individual and fosters collaboration, and challenges every girl to be the best person and the best student she can be.
I hope you will consider coming to Bryn Mawr to visit. Our Fall Visiting Days are right around the corner. While visiting, you will discover why we are so proud to embark on our 122nd school year.
